Droopy & Sagging Eyebrows | Causes & Treatments | Jayjun Plastic Surgery

Eyes play an important role in determining the first impression. The distance between the eyes and eyebrows is as important as the shape and appearance of the eyes. Especially because the eyes and eyebrows interact with each other, the shape, angle, and distance of the eyebrows can completely change the atmosphere, greatly affecting the impression. While the shape and angle of the eyebrows can be improved simply by trimming and drawing, it's not easy to improve when the distance between the eyes and eyebrows is narrow.

Especially for women, if the distance between the eyes and eyebrows is too close, it may look strong or fierce, and drooping eyebrows can often look gloomy, leading to complexes. Generally, women consider the ideal horizontal length of the eye and the distance between the eyes and eyebrows to be 1:1 in eyebrow position and height, so during relatively young ages, the distance between the eyes and eyebrows is somewhat widened, and many may not feel it due to good eyelid elasticity.

However, as people age and begin to feel the effects of aging, drooping eyelids often accompany sagging skin, causing concern about drooping eyebrows. Perhaps that's why many are recently inquiring at our clinic about surgical methods for lifting such drooping eyebrows. So, in this post, I will detail the surgical methods for lifting drooping eyebrows.

Lifting Sagging Eyebrows

Generally, when the distance between the eyes and eyebrows is narrow, there may be cases where the distance above the eyebrows in front of the eyes is narrow or the distance above the eyebrows on the outer side of the eyes is narrow, and according to these features, appropriate surgery for lifting sagging eyebrows is needed.

What is the Suitable Surgical Method for Lifting Drooping Eyebrows?

1. endoscopic forehead lift

First, the surgery for lifting sagging eyebrows that many people are currently undergoing is endoscopic forehead lift. In the case of endoscopic forehead lift, 3-5 incisions are made inside the hairline, making it possible to lift the forehead and the overall temples, and by cutting the muscles in front of the eyebrows and then reducing the force that frowns, it is possible to lift sagging eyebrows.

In particular, this procedure offers significant room for the eyebrows above the front of the eyes to become refreshed, so you can expect the endoscopic forehead lift to make the eyes appear brighter as if the once stifling eye shape has been relieved. Also, it can be applied to most cases to improve sagging eyebrows, so it can be said that it is a versatile and effective surgical method.

However, in cases that cannot be solved or are difficult to handle with endoscopic forehead lift, there is a need to proceed with a more effective surgical method.

2. incision forehead lift

In the case of incision forehead lift, it is a surgical method that lifts sagging eyebrows by making incisions along the hairline.  When making incisions along the hairline, there may be a concern that scars may remain from the incision, but there is an advantage in that you can actually cut away part of the skin of the forehead, and also release and cut the adhesion between the forehead skin and the forehead muscles that cause wrinkles when we open our eyes widely.

Therefore, this procedure can be said to be a very useful surgery for middle-aged people, especially those who have very deep wrinkles on their foreheads or many multiple wrinkles, as it can smooth out these wrinkles and cut away the remaining skin to lift sagging eyebrows.

3. Gliding Brow Lift (Net Lifting)

Gliding Brow Lift (Net Lifting) is a surgical method that utilizes multiple threads on the outside of the skin to peel, opening only a small hole big enough for one device to enter. Through this part, it cuts off the adhesion inside, allowing strong wrinkles on the forehead to be relaxed and sagging eyebrows to be lifted.

This method can be said to be an effective way to smooth the wrinkles, especially for those with very strong wrinkles on their forehead, similar to the effect of an incision forehead lift.

4. Eyejun Lifting

Eyejun Lifting is a method that lifts sagging eyebrows through an incision in the hairline behind the eyebrows. This is an effective method for those who want a definite lifting effect mainly on the outside of the eyebrows, especially if the upper side of the eye's tail is too narrow or if they want to lift the stuffy-looking outer skin of the eyebrows refreshingly.

So far, we have looked at surgical methods to lift sagging eyebrows. As mentioned earlier, to lift sagging eyebrows, it is effective to proceed with different procedures depending on the characteristics of the sagging eyebrows, and it is advisable to proceed with an accurate diagnosis through sufficient consultation with experienced medical staff.

The strange thing is that belly fat is not easy to lose, but facial fat is very easy to lose, making you look old and tired. In this case, many people tend to perform simple procedures, such as injecting fillers, but these procedures only provide temporary effects, not semi-permanent. Finally, they will consider surgery such as fat graft. Since such people want a full, vibrant face, there are many inquiries about Facial Fat Grafting which uses autologous fat.
