Create the Perfect Double Eyelid for You!

Eyes are one of the most important parts of the face and play a significant role in determining the first impression. In reality, relatively small changes, such as the surrounding eye structure, eyebrow shape, presence or absence of double eyelids, distance between the eyes, pupil proportion, presence or absence of the Mongolian fold, and eyelash shape, can make a significant difference.

Because of this,  #DoubleEyelidSurgery has become a common plastic surgery procedure among those with eye-related complexes. Generally, this might be because dramatic image changes are possible depending on the presence, shape, and size of double eyelids.

Usually, double eyelid surgery involves creating a crease in the upper eyelid by adhering the opening muscles and outer skin to the inner tissue, forming a double eyelid line. When double eyelids are created, the eyes do not actually become larger, but due to the visual effect of perceiving up to the double eyelid line, the overall size of the eyes appears to be larger. To create a beautiful eye shape that suits you through double eyelid surgery, it is necessary to choose a surgical method that suits your eye condition, skin elasticity, and eyelid thickness.

No matter how beautiful the shape of the line, it would be difficult to consider it a satisfactory result if it doesn't suit the person.  In order to create a beautiful eye shape that suits you through double eyelid surgery, it is crucial to know what types of double eyelid surgeries are available in Korea and what surgical methods are suitable for you depending on the type of surgery.

Korean double eyelid surgery types are broadly divided into Natural Adhesion Method, Non-Incision Method, and Incision Method.

Natural Adhesion and Non-Incision refer to surgical methods that create a double eyelid line without incisions, while incision methods are further divided into Partial Incision and Full Incision.

1. Natural Adhesion Method

Natural Adhesion is a non-incision double eyelid surgery method that maximizes naturalness, using tiny holes instead of incisions to create a double eyelid line by inducing natural adhesion between tissues, unlike the traditional Non-Incision Method.

It is possible to have double eyelid surgery with desired designs such as inline, in-out line, and outline; the surgery has gained popularity among busy modern people due to the reduced postoperative bruising and swelling and a faster recovery period.Unlike the traditional Non-Incision Method, which relies solely on thread, this method induces natural adhesion between the skin and the levator muscle, resulting in a natural-looking double eyelid that does not easily come undone.

2. Non-Incision Method

The Non-Incision Method also involves inserting a thread into the inner eyelid without making incisions, resulting in a natural-looking double eyelid line.

By making about five tiny holes along the double eyelid line in the upper eyelid skin and inserting a thread thinner than a hair, tying continuous knots to create double eyelids, tissue damage is minimized without incisions, leaving almost no visible scars. Since the surgery is performed using tiny holes without cutting the skin, recovery is faster and swelling is reduced.

3. Partial Incision  Method

Partial Incision is a method that involves partially cutting the upper eyelid, removing fat and skin, and creating a double eyelid line, allowing for the free adjustment of the line's position and thickness. With minimal incisions, this method removes eye fat and muscle, reducing the likelihood of the eyelid coming undone compared to the Non-Incision Method. It also has a shorter surgery time, less swelling, and faster recovery.

4. Incision Method

The Incision Method is a technique that involves cutting the entire eyelid to create a double eyelid line, allowing for precise control of the line's position and thickness. Initially, the line may appear thick and intimidating, but as the swelling subsides and the recovery period progresses, the line becomes much more natural-looking, making this method preferred by many people.

By cutting the eyelid and appropriately removing droopy skin, fat, and muscle, you can create a distinct, clear, large, refreshing, and thick eye shape with a slim and natural eyelid line. This incision method is suitable for those with thick eyelid skin and a lot of fat, those who need eye re-surgery, or those with severe ptosis symptoms.

Additionally, if you don't have double eyelids and your levator muscle is weak, it is good to have double eyelid surgery and eye shape correction surgery together. In cases where the width of the eyes is narrow and there are Mongolian folds, it is also advisable to undergo a trimming surgery concurrently.

As such, it is crucial to consult with experienced medical professionals who can perform a 1:1 personalized precision analysis based on facial balance before undergoing natural double eyelid surgery using various surgical methods. Even if  #DoubleEyelidSurgery is considered a simple procedure, it is necessary to minimize damage to surrounding tissues, fully understand the anatomical structure, and consider functional issues to proceed with the most suitable surgical method for you.

Therefore, if you want to improve your eye-related complexes, I recommend starting with a thorough consultation with experienced Korean medical professionals.
