Rhinoplasty for a bulbous tip :

JAYJUN PLASTIC SURGERY KOREA

Since a long time ago, nose shape with a thick and blunt nose tip is being called a bulbous nose. As the bone of a bulbous nose is not obvious, and the fat is thick, people saw bulbous nose as a good meaning. People thought that bulbous nose is similar with a luck bag, and thought that it can bring wealth. However, as the blunt nose tip and chubby alar can make one’s impression look rough and rustic, recently, more and more people want to change their image into a more well-defined feeling. That's because the nose is located in the center of the face and has a great influence on one’s image. Maybe that’s why bulbous tip rhinoplasty is becoming more popular, and more and more people visit our hospital and ask about the surgery method that can improve their bulbous noses.

In order to improve the rustic bulbous nose into a well-defined nose, first of all, it is important for you to find out which type of bulbous nose your nose is. Heightening the nose blindly or trimming the nose tip without considering the face ratio could lead to an unnatural result, so you will need to choose a surgery that is suitable for the type of your bulbous nose.

In general, bulbous nose can be divided into four main types. There are different cases, including situation in which the alar are too wide compared with the nose bridge, the cartilage is too large, or the left and right nose wing are too far from each other, the skin or soft tissue are exceptionally thick, or the cartilage is less developed, causing the nose column that serves as a support for the nose collapse. Depending on the different situations, improvement can be made through different surgery methods, including lateral crural steal, subcutaneous tissue removal, cartilage reinforcement and alar reduction. However,  #bulboustiprhinoplasty is different from ordinary rhinoplasty, in which it needs the usage of complicated and meticulous techniques, so we need to be more careful than ever.

For example, when the nose bridge is high, but the alar on the sides spreads sideways a lot, making the nostrils look large, even by only doing alar reduction with non-incisional or incisional method, which reduces the size of alar, we can gather the widely spread and blunt nose tip. In the situation in which the cartilage of the nose wing of the nose tip is large and wide, by incising part of the nose tip cartilages (alar cartilages), or resecting the nose tip cartilages and gather the nose tip to the center, we can make a slim and well-defined nose tip. On the other hand, in the situation in which the alar cartilages of the nose tip spread sideways, by suturing and tying up the both sides after trimming the cartilages into small pieces, the nose tip cartilages will become smaller and being gathered to the center, so a thin and sharp nose tip can be made. However, in the situation in which the amount of subcutaneous fat on the nose tip is large and the skin tissue is thick, if we reduce the thickness of the skin and remove the fat tissue of the nose tip, the nose tip cartilages will become smaller and being gathered to the center, so it will be helpful in making the nose slim and 3-dimensional.

In addition, if the development of the nose tip cartilages is weak, we will need to strengthen the supporting structure of the cartilages by reinforcing the cartilage. We should consider the line of the alar and nostrils when we look at the nose from the front, and when the nose column is sunken, if we improve the line of the nostrils, we will be able to improve the nose tip in a 3-dimensional way.

As such, for  #bulboustiprhinoplasty, there is situation in which only the nose tip is blunt although the nose bridge is high, and there is also opposite situation. Therefore, depending on the actual nose shape or skin type of the patients which are different from person to person, different surgery method can be used among nose tip reduction, alar reduction and nasal bone reduction, and the surgery range can be different. In other words, in order to improve the bulbous nose with blunt nose tip, you will need to have rhinoplasty combined with several techniques when you do the surgery, so that the satisfaction level of the surgery can be increased.

Therefore, rather than receiving the surgery recklessly without carefully examining the blunt tip of the nose, just because you say that you want to change your blunt nose tip, before doing the bulbous tip rhinoplasty, you should have sufficient consultation with a medical team which has rich anatomical knowledge and excellent skills, and do the surgery with a method that is suitable for your nose type. In addition, in order to create a satisfactory result, the satisfaction level can be different depending on how you do the post-surgery management. Therefore, you should check if the hospital has a systemic post-surgery manage system, and do a bulbous tip rhinoplasty that is suitable for your current situation.

Everything You Need to Know Before Getting a Nose Job in Korea [Jayjun Plastic Surgery Q&A]

Everything You Need to Know Before Getting a Nose Job in Korea [Jayjun Plastic Surgery Q&A] Today, we have compiled clear answers from a Jayjun Plastic Surgery specialist in Korea to frequently asked questions by patients who are considering rhinoplasty.  Please note that surgical methods and outcomes may vary depending on the individual, so use this information as a general guide. Q1. Can the nasal tip be raised and improved naturally using only septal cartilage? Yes, it can be possible, although it depends on individual conditions. In the past, surgeries were done using only septal cartilage, and even now, if the conditions allow, natural and sophisticated results can be achieved with septal cartilage alone. However, if the nose is very small or upturned (short nose), cartilage alone may not provide enough support, so a stronger structure is needed to fix the tip. In such cases, rib cartilage (autologous or donated) may be used. In principle, if there are no major nasal issue...
