Facial Contour Surgery Aftercare : As Important as The Surgery Itself

 Facial Contour Surgery Aftercare

: As Important as The Surgery Itself

When we first meet others, although facial features like clear eyes, sharp nose and thick lip are also important factors in determining our image, I think facial shape is also important. Of course, there is a tendency to value individual personality, when the square jaw or cheekbone protrudes severely, the impression will usually look kitsch and fierce, so this kind of facial shape sometimes becomes a complex of many people. Therefore, people who had a complex with protruding cheekbones or angled square jaws often consider facial contour surgery. Most of the people who consider having contour surgery are curious about the swelling after facial contour. In particular, I think it is because facial contour surgery has a larger surgical site than other surgeries, and it also involves bone-cutting surgery. Of course, there are individual differences depending on the surgical site and surgical method, but you should know that swelling after facial contour can affect whether you can or cannot obtain a satisfactory result depending on how you manage it after surgery. So in this post, I would like to tell you in detail how to take care of your face and the swelling after the facial contour  surgery.

For facial contour sweet, post-surgery management is important.

First of all, before surgery, as facial contour is a surgery in which bones are removed and moved, precise examination and systematic analysis are necessary. Individual 1:1 customized surgery performed by medical team after sufficient consultation in which the entire balance and harmony of the face, cosmetic and functional aspect are all being considered, is the first step to reduce facial contour swelling.

Then, how long will swelling after facial contour last for? In general, although the swelling after facial contour is different from person to person, severe swelling and bruises usually go down and fade away 1-4 weeks after the surgery, and light swelling can last until 6 months after the surgery. At this time, what you should be aware is that you should avoid lying prone or resting your chin on your hand. Also, it is better for you not to lift heavy loads. Please rest comfortably until the first week after the surgery, and sleep in the right position without bending your body for about a month after the surgery.

➤ For facial contour swelling, please manage as followings after surgery.

1. Ice pack and Face Band

Three to four days after surgery is the period when the face would swell most seriously, so it is helpful to apply ice packs frequently for about a week. Swelling or bruising may come down to the lower neck, and the face will be less sensitive at this time, so please be careful of frostbite or burns caused by the cold pack or hot pack. Also, it is helpful to wear a face band for a month after surgery.

2. Face washing & shower & make-up

It usually takes 7 days to remove the stitches after contour surgery, so until the stitches have been removed , please wipe only tears or eye boogers gently with clean gauze. It is recommended that you wash your face with minimal irritation from the day after removing the stitches. Also, makeup can be done a week after surgery, but you need to be careful not to irritate your skin.

3. Brushing teeth

Brushing teeth can be done three days after surgery, and please use a soft and small toothbrush to carefully take care of the sewing area. In addition, you can use the hexamidine solution prescribed by the doctor to gargle the sewing area, but you should avoid using minty mouthwash that gives fresh feeling. You are recommended to gargle every time after eating, and please gargle your oral for more than 10 seconds every 2 hours in a way which is not too intense.

4. Meal

For a week after the day you do the surgery, you can have a thin rice gruel-based meal, and although you can start to have normal meal 1-4 weeks after the surgery, it is better for you to avoid spicy, salty, hot and irritative food, as well as foods which have small particles and rough, such as strawberry and kiwi. Also, you should avoid dairy products such as yogurt and milk, as well as hard and tough foods. In particular, if you have done cheekbone reduction, you are recommended to eat soft foods mainly, and avoid hard nuts and sticky and tough foods like rice cakes and jelly for 2-3 months.

5. Exercises & sauna

Vigorous exercise puts pressure on your face and has a risk of getting injured, , so you are recommended to take a light walk or stretching, but it is recommended to do so after at least a month of surgery, when the face has settled down. For sauna,, warm water and heat can cause heat on your face, so it is recommended to go sauna at least a month after the surgery.

6. Drinking and smoking

Drinking and smoking can weaken our body's immune system and cause infection and inflammation, so it is recommended to avoid it for at least a month after surgery.

So far, I have talked in detail about the good way to manage the swelling after facial contour surgery. As mentioned earlier, swelling after facial contour can affect whether you can or cannot obtain a satisfactory result depending on how you manage it after surgery. Also, if management is neglected after surgery, problems such as inflammation or shape deformation may occur, so please get to know about the manage method after facial contour surgery aforementioned, and make a slim and shape facial shape.
