Self-diagnosis of blepharoptosis to create cool and clear eyes

My eyes look drowsy and gloomy. Are these symptoms of blepharoptosis?

Self-diagnosis of #blepharoptosis to create cool and clear eyes

In the eyes, there is a muscle called the "levator palpebrae superioris" that can raise and lower the eyelids. When the strength of the levator palpebrae superioris becomes weak, the upper eyelid sags, making it difficult to open the eyes. Moreover, it makes the pupils look small, giving a frustrating impression. These are all considered to be the symptoms of blepharoptosis. However, because the symptoms of #blepharoptosis and laxity are similar, you need to make an accurate self-diagnosis to improve the symptoms later.

So what are the differences between blepharoptosis and laxity?

First of all, blepharoptosis is a symptom that occurs when the levator palpebrae superioris becomes weak and the eyelid plate and muscles are separated, while laxity is a symptom that the thin skin covering the upper eyelid muscle loses its elasticity and sags. In order to improve #blepharoptosis, eye correction surgery is performed to strengthen the levator palpebrae superioris. And for laxity, Blepharoplasty is performed to remove sagging skin and lift the drooping eyelid. Depending on the situation, orbital fat will also be removed.

So, what causes the symptoms of blepharoptosis?

There are many causes of blepharoptosis, but most of them are caused by aging. Therefore, the levator palpebrae superioris used to open the eyes is weakened. This can happen when the eyelids are congenitally thick, or when the levator palpebrae superioris is injured due to an accident. Recently, however, many young people are experiencing #ptosis due to incorrect use of double eyelid tape or frequent use of contact lenses.

Such symptoms of blepharoptosis need to be improved because the lack of strength of the levator palpebrae superioris can cause the eyes to not open properly and give the impression of drowsiness or dullness. If left untreated, the symptoms of sagging persist, and sight can be clocked by the eyelids. At the same time, this will lead to the habit of using the forehead muscles to forcibly open the eyes, causing forehead wrinkles, and the bad habit of lifting the chin when opening the eyes. In addition, if the degree of muscle sagging is severe, it may cause negative effects such as vision loss, headache and chronic fatigue, so it is necessary to quickly improve the #ptosis through self-diagnosis.

A simple self-diagnosis method at home is, first, when you press your eyebrows with your hands and open your eyes, if your eyelids cover more than one-third of the black pupils, it is likely to be blepharoptosis. Second, when you look straight ahead, if the upper eyelid covers the pupil, it should be suspected of blepharoptosis. Third, if you often hear from nearby acquaintances that you usually look sleepy, or you have poor eyesight when you look straight ahead, and use the muscles of your forehead when you open your eyes, you should suspect blepharoptosis too. In addition, the same is true when the eyelashes pierce the pupil.

What are the corrective methods for blepharoptosis symptoms?

Usually, people only think of blepharoplasty to improve blepharoptosis. But in fact, it is necessary to correct blepharoptosis by pulling the drooping muscles and tendons to strengthen the levator palpebrae superioris. This is because its purpose is different from simple blepharoplasty.

First, for younger generation, if there are not many wrinkles on the eyelids, the symptoms of blepharoptosis can be fully improved by non-incisional eye correction instead of incisional surgery. As it is a non-incisional surgery, there is no need to worry about scars after surgery. By tying a knot on the diaphragm and skin tissue to reduce the length of the muscle, strength the power to open the eyes and form a clear eye. However, if there are a lot of wrinkles on the eyelids, incisional ptosis surgery is required. But if the distance between the eyebrows and the eyes is very close, a brow lift must be performed together to avoid a frustrating impression. If you are considering improving such symptoms of blepharoptosis, you cannot blindly perform blepharoplasty, but consult a specialist who can accurately diagnose eyelid wrinkles, the power of the muscle that lifts the eyelid, eyelid fat and the distance between the eyebrows, and find an improvement method that suits you.

As with all plastic surgery, postoperative management is critical to ptosis surgery. After the operation, the eyes become temporarily enlarged, and the eyelids and surrounding areas may swell, making the eyes unable to close, resulting in syndrome. Syndrome can lead to secondary diseases such as keratitis. Therefore, special attention should be paid to bleeding and moisturizing care after surgery.

People usually think that blepharoptosis is a symptom that appears in middle-aged and elderly people, but in recent years, the incidence of blepharoptosis is increasing among the younger generation. If you ignore the blepharoptosis, the symptoms may worsen to the point where daily life is uncomfortable. Therefore, please understand the causes and symptoms of blepharoptosis and receive appropriate treatment.
